🏉 New season, new head coach! 🔥

With the Rugby season fast approaching, we caught up with Llyr, our new head coach for the mens Rugby team, to hear his thoughts on pre-season, the challenges ahead, and the team’s goals for 2025

How has pre-season been, and what are your main reflections heading into the season opener?

"So far, pre-season is going great. The players are hugely talented and eager to learn. I think if we continue to have good turnout at training, we will have a great season!"

What are the biggest challenges you expect to face this season, and how do you plan to tackle them?

"The biggest challenge is getting enough hours of match-intensity practice to ensure that what we plan for in training translates well during games."

How do you want the team to play this year, both in terms of tactics and mentality?

"We have plenty of energy and motivation, speed, and power in the team. What we need to focus on is control, patience, and understanding. I believe if we set the tempo of the game and retain ball possession, we will either earn a penalty or make a line break."

Erikslunds Rugby values community and development—how does the team embody these principles?

"Erikslunds' team spirit and levels of respect are very admirable, and it makes it very easy for me as a new coach to jump into a well-working and comprehensive system. The attitude of everyone I've spoken to has been super welcoming and eager to learn and develop."

What would you consider a successful season for Erikslunds Rugby, both in terms of results and team development?

"A successful season would be one where we reach our potential, play a system we enjoy, and ensure people have fun playing rugby. Also, it’s important that our injury count stays low. i.e that we manage our players well."

With a strong squad, a clear game plan, and a passionate new head coach, Erikslunds Rugby is ready to take on the 2025 season. The hard work in pre-season has set the foundation, and now it’s time to put it all into action on the field.
