Festival 2 match report (Enköping 11th May)

Another day, another festival, another massive effort by the u12 team.

The first game, against an Enköping team short of numbers, was no indication of what the rest of the day would hold.

Second up was Exiles, desperate to make up for the loss last week. They drafted in some bigger and faster players for the fixture, so it was a different proposition totally. We fought like lions, much to the disappointment of the opposition coaches. A great team performance, despite back-to-back games.

The biggest test of the day was the third match against Sigtuna. They are a newer team but are bigger and older than us. After an even first half, the team found another gear in line speed and dug in deep to close the game out. Some of the offloading was superb, some of the tackling breathtaking.

However, the highlight of the match was a backline move that wouldn't be out of place in the European cup final (which it's half time in now!). A dummy run down the blindside from a scrum put their backline into disarray. We switched the other way, missed a pass, passed it out to the wing and scored in the corner. It's honestly the best move I've seen an Erikslund team play across all age groups, absolutely class!

We still have areas of the game to improve on (running lines, draw and pass, speed to breakdown), but the level of commitment and spirit shown by every player this early in the season points to a great year ahead. Please keep getting the kids to training so we can build on this fantastic start.
